Register My Athlete!
DHPA requires all 5th-12th grade student-athletes to use Register My Athlete for athletic paperwork. Register My Athlete allows families to quickly register and ensure all student documents are submitted to the school.

Steps for participation in DHPA sports!
- Create an account or log onto Register My Athlete.
- Fill in or update all sport, school, athlete, guardian, insurance, and medical information.
- Freshman and new students must complete the online course trainings for Brainbook and Opioid Awareness through AZPreps365 Academy (only applicable to 9th-12th grade students).
- Transfer students must have their parents complete additional forms..
- Each athlete must obtain a physical every year.
Admissions
To expand and enhance our sports program, and to assist with athletic expenses, the follow admissions will be incurred by all spectators at DHPA home sporting events.
- Junior Varsity & Varsity Home Games: $5 for adults and $1 for students.
Families can now purchase their tickets and passes using GoFan!

K and K Insurance Options!
DHPA requires all athletes to have insurance for any season or sport. Families that do not have insurance and need a quality, but inexpensive option can go to K and K Insurance and register. Documentation must be provided through Register My Athlete.

Athletic Handbooks
The following information defines the interscholarstic policies and procedures for all students participating in our athletic programs. The Athletic Department hopes these documents provide parents & athletes a better understanding of our values, philosophy, goals and policies.
Athletic Scholarships & Sponsorships
Scholarships are given to one boy athlete and one girl athlete each season. We will open up scholarships to be submitted starting the week after tryouts each season. Athletes are requested to turn their scholarship form into the Athletic Director Brian Wicker. Following your application, the Athletic Department will set up an interview to select the recipients of the scholarship.
Our Athletic Department is actively looking for Sponsorships from businesses. We have many different packages for people to choose from with incentives for each one! Please use the Sponsorship Form to get your business out there!
Coaching Qualifications
Desert Heights employs quality coaches that meet the necessary qualifications for the respective level of play. Contact the Athletic Director for any questions regarding coaches or to apply for a position.
- Coaches must have a Finger Print Clearance Card and Coaching Application completed.
- Coaches must have 3 reference checks completed.
- Coaches must complete the NHS Fundamentals of Coaching course, or approved equivalent, within forty five (45) days from the date of hire.
- Coaches shall complete the NHS online education course entitles “Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know”.
- Coaches shall be approved in accordance with the personnel policies of the school district and in accordance with the Arizona Revised Statutes.
- All head varsity coaches shall have valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Arizona Coaching Certificate, or have completed each of the following criteria from the National Federation of State High School Associations online at www.nfhslearn.org (Level I Certification) within forty five (45) days from date of hire:
- Fundamentals of Coaching
- First Aid/CPR
- Sport specific course or teaching sport skills if sport is not offered.
- This certification shall be on file or recorded in the office of the Athletic Director.
- Coaches must have a Finger Print Clearance Card and Coaching Application completed.
- Coaches must have 3 reference checks completed.
- Coaches shall complete the NHS online education course entitles “Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know”.
- Coaches shall be approved in accordance with the personnel policies of the school district and in accordance with the Arizona Revised Statutes.
- All head coaches shall have valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Arizona Coaching Certificate, or have completed each of the following criteria from the National Federation of State High School Associations online at www.nfhslearn.org (Level I Certification) within forty five (45) days from date of hire.
- First Aid/CPR
- Non-certificated personnel may be assigned as assistant coaches. Non-certificated personnel may serve as head freshman or junior varsity coaches under the supervision of an Arizona certificated teacher. Supervision shall be as defined by the Arizona Revised Statutes.
- This certification shall be on file or recorded in the office of the Athletic Director.
- Coaches must have a Finger Print Clearance Card and Coaching Application completed
- Coaches must have 3 reference checks completed.
- Coaches shall complete the NHS online education course or Positive Coaching Alliance.
- Coaches shall be approved in accordance with the personnel policies of the school district and in accordance with the Arizona Revised Statutes.All head varsity coaches shall have valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Arizona Coaching Certificate, or have completed each of the following criteria from the Arizona Canyon Associations online at www.azcaa.com (Level I Certification) within forty five (45) days from date of hire.
