Sophomores & Juniors, Our Advisory team wanted to share an opportunity through ASU that is offered through their Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Institute. This program is a is a high-energy, week-long leadership program for Arizona high school sophomores and juniors. While living on the ASU campus, participants will explore higher education, develop leadership skills, and discover the value of community service. Participants will be involved in workshops, lectures and activities designed to build communication skills, develop critical thinking, and inspire a passion for civic engagement all while providing guidance and support for college readiness. The goals of this one-of-a-kind experience are to foster academic and personal success, embrace diversity, and reinforce the value and importance of community involvement all within a collaborative peer environment. While living on campus, the program focuses on three key areas:
  • College Preparation
  • Leadership Development
  • Community Engagement
Who may apply? If you answer “Yes” to all four questions, you may apply.
  • Are you currently attending high school?
  • Are you currently a sophomore or junior?
  • Is your high school in Arizona?
  • Is your GPA above 2.0? (3.0 and above recommended)
How are students selected? Selections will be made from completed applications based on:
  • Academic achievement, honors and school involvement
  • Demonstrated leadership in community, civic and volunteer service
  • Evaluation of written essays
  • Recommendations
