This time of the year is a great time to be looking at different summer programs that colleges are offering!  What a great experience to have to be on a college campus getting a taste of the campus, learning more about what their program offers and having hands on experience studying in a field of your interest possibly.  We wanted to share a couple of opportunities that students can take advantage of:

  • ASU Innovation Camp– The High School Media Innovation Camp at the Cronkite School at ASU offers future journalists, game developers and other students interested in media and technology the chance to experiment with cutting-edge tools, including 360-degree and virtual-reality technology, news games and apps. Click on the title to find out more information and register! The deadline for the application is April 6th and this is open for freshman through junior students.
  • GCU Summer Institute–  Students will get to stay overnight at GCU and get hands-on learning experiences in engineering, computer science, hospitality, business and much more.  Students will get to choose which career sessions they would like to attend to learn about that specific field.  GCU will also be providing all meals for students during the summer institute and students will spend the night in one of the GCU dorms.  Each session has different dates that it is offered, so please see the brochure that is hanging up in the first floor of the high school building or see your advisor who has one as well. To learn more or to apply please click on the title.  They just recently extended the deadline to March 31st for the application therefore it’s coming up soon so don’t miss out on this opportunity!

We highly encourage all students to look at colleges websites to see if they offer summer programs that spark your interest as again it’s a great opportunity for you!  We will continue to share ones that we come across as well.

We are excited to announce that our new webpage about College and Career Readiness is now accessible on our school webpage! With the help of our technology team are able to provide our community with a website full of resources and information.   Just a few examples of what you will find on here are Advanced Placement study materials, links to practice ACT/SAT test or registration information, college application apps, scholarship websites and much more future planning information. Please take a moment to check it out and follow our blog as we continue to build on it:  http://dhschools.org/college-career-readiness/
